"The distinctive phase in the printing process is when the cleaned, washed and dried fabric is treated with the Harda seeds giving the fabric the tell-tale yellow tint. Then the block is dipped into the colour tray and pressed on to the fabric. The specialty of Bagru is the resist printing called Dabu printing where the Dabu or black mud paste made from local earth is printed on to the cloth and then the entire cloth is dyed. The mud paste does not allow the colour to permeate and thus the designs are formed. The cloth is dyed again after removing the paste to colour those areas."
