our journey
TAPESTRY OF TIME
At our core, we remain a collective of authentic, gifted karigars—keepers of traditions, creators of beautiful art. Every piece our artisans make tells a story passed down through generations. This is our identity. This is our journey.
We began our journey in 1996 with humble exhibitions held in the heartlands of India, spaces where tradition thrived quietly, far from the mainstream eye. With time and the trust of our Karigars, we took a bold step forward, hosting our first major city exhibition at the historic Coomaraswamy Hall in Mumbai. As appreciation for traditional crafts grew, so did we—eventually expanding to the World Trade Centre and other prominent venues.
Today, our workshops and exhibitions span across India’s major cities, and increasingly, across global borders. Our craftsmen have collaborated with ABC Home and Carpet Store in New York, where they conducted live demonstrations and showcased their wares. With the support of the Tata Group, we also hosted an exhibition at Taj’s The Pierre Hotel in New York City
The pandemic challenged us to adapt and out of that challenge was born The Sahyog Sale, an online marketplace that not only kept our Karigars’ crafts alive during uncertain times but also brought their work into homes around the world.
EXHIBITIONS
Exhibitions began as an annual event at small venues with just a handful of karigars. As participation grew, we moved to the prestigious Coomaraswamy Hall at the Museum, marking a new chapter in our journey.
Expansion to Juhu
By 2012, responding to popular demand for exhibitions in the suburbs, we began showcasing at Kamala Raheja Hall in Juhu. This marked the beginning of hosting two exhibitions a year instead of just one.
Master Craftsmen Exhibitions
From 2010 to 2015, we held special exhibitions featuring the exclusive works of our award-winning master craftsmen — the true jewels in our crown.
Shift to World Trade Centre
As we grew in both numbers and talent, the need for a larger space became evident. This led to the launch of our annual exhibition at the World Trade Centre, bringing together 110 Karigars under one roof. The move was a resounding success, warmly supported by our loyal patrons.
2020 (The Pandemic Years)
With physical exhibitions cancelled due to the pandemic, we pivoted to continue supporting and promoting our Karigars. The Sahyog Sale—an online exhibition—was launched to help meet the income needs of our artisans. We also organized virtual workshops and live web sessions to spread awareness of our art, craft, and textiles, both nationally and internationally.
Emerging Artisans
To encourage new talent and bring greater variety to our exhibitions, a dedicated showcase for emerging craftsmen was introduced and held from 2011 to 2014.
