"Done on cotton and silk. Designs are both geometrical and floral, the inspiration for which can be traced to the 1500 year old paintings at Bagh, and to nature and the jali (lattice) work of the Taj Mahal. Each block has a name chameli (jasmine), maithir (mushroom), leheriya (waves), keri (mango), and jurvaria (small dots) are some common ones. Traditionally done in red and black colours. Natural dyes extracted from plants and minerals are used."
